Bugis Singapore

Bugis has so much more to offer than meets the eye. Scroll down for you to see.

Before heading to Bugis. Photo credits to ECP (my brother-in-law).
We have spent the last 3 days in Singapore by walking around the theme parks and beaches, and now we wanted a bit change of scenery, we will be heading to the shopping clusters in Bugis.

The Eastpoint Mall
Before we got to the MRT, we stopped at Eastpoint Mall to eat our breakfast. Eastpoint Mall is located right next to Simei MRT Station. This is also an interesting place to find good electronics products, bargain watches and DVDs.

Our breakfast @ Food Fare Food Court.

Eastpoint Mall hosts a wide range of food options. When you think of dimsum and hot beverages, you certainly can't go without siomai and coffee. We ordered a “3 to Share” as our starter (just to fill our tummy until lunch).

And take note, this place has the best lemonade in the city!

Getting ready to cross the street.

Waiting to board Bugis MRT train
The easiest way going to Bugis is to take MRT (just one MRT ride from Simei). Take the East West Line of Singapore MRT line and alight at Bugis MRT Station. When in doubt, just ask the station officers on duty on how to get there.

Touched down Bugis!

The shops are just located near Bugis MRT station. If you want to haggle Divisosia-style, Bugis street is the place to be.

Got lots of stuff on sale here. Cheap watches, bags, t-shirts, jeans, hats, souvenirs, shoes, etc.

Some tourists say, this is the cheapest place in Singapore to buy T-shirts and souvenirs for family back home. Partly true.

A really good place to look for trendy clothing, caps and accessories

You could buy Singapore souvenirs. Keychain costs S$10 per 10pcs.

refrigerator magnets could sell as low S$10 per 5 pieces.

Right opposite Bugis lies Iluma Shopping Mall. Other traveler's describes this place as an interesting 10 story shopping mall with more than 150 outlets inside. The place has an architectural design with the theme of light and illumination.

Bugis cinema is also in the shopping mall where most of the youth Singaporeans watched movies during weekend.

crossing over to Bugis Junction

The bridge that connects to where? Sorry, I can't remember anymore : )

Sale Giordano shirts

I love SG ( actually, i love this shirt).

Tired and hungry. It's time to look for one good restaurant to lunch.

Our lunch @ Pepper Lunch
Instead of eating at the Food Court we found ourselves sitting at one of the Japanese restaurants across Intercontinental Hotel.  The foods was good but a bit expensive. My family had sizzling chicken salmon pepper rice, BBQ chicken, Nasi Beriyani and Nasi Lemak. One thing I enjoyed most was their green tea with vanilla syrup and cream on the top.

My lunch (sizzling Salmon Chicken Pepper Rice).

No meal is complete for my kids without grilled or crispy
chicken served on the table.

Half-day shopping is over!
Bugis in particular is all about shopping and food hunting! You can't avoid NOT to spend money here hehehe.   Anyway, "frugal mom" knows her limits, i did not spend much (i only bought those rare and valuable items that can be haggled at favorable prices). Though I wish I had gotten more.  Sad : (

Our half-day shopping experience in Bugis has ended. Tomorrow we have to be up early again, but  this time we are heading over to check out the Chinese temple and colorful lanterns in Chinatown. So, see you there!
