Universal Studios Singapore

Right after our trip to Singapore, my son wrote an essay(with minor corrections) that he titled "My Most Memorable Vacation".   Last summer, in May 2011, my Mom and Dad took me and my younger brother to Universal Studios in Singapore. It was a real blessing and a dream come true for me. Besides that it was my very first time to travel abroad, it was also my first time on a passenger plane. I can never recall what day we arrived and left the beautiful city of Singapore, what I can only remember was the joy and fun that we experienced inside the Universal Studios. That trip was also my family's first time (hopefully not the last) experience to go behind the scenes of Steven Spielberg's Hollywood movies. The shows, stunts, and effects was truly amazing! We had other family vacations here in the Philippines, but the trip to USS was the most memorable as we did so much happy moments together that we had never experienced before. It was indeed an extraordinary learning experience and happiest vacation for me and the whole family! All i can say is, I am very proud of my son for expressing his little thoughts about our vacation. Thumbs up!

Below are some of the photos taken while we were there. Hopefully these will give you some additional details about our tour. Happy viewing!

We left Simei by MRT around 8:00 in the morning and arrived at Universal Studios by Resort World Sentosa bus at 9:00am. From Waterfront station, our first stop would definitely be at the USS globe where crowd started to build up.

our USS tickets : )
We were all lucky 'coz we got to purchase our 1 day pass tickets before the rush hour started. As we all know we have to queue early to get tickets. Super lucky! (^_^)

USS here we come!

USS opens at 10am so we quickly took photos around the giant spinning globe located before the main entrance.

See the smoke?

Long queue at the main entrance.

Photo op with Po, the Kung Fu panda.
As you enter, several interesting mascots and costumed characters are in specific locations to welcome you for photo opportunities.

With Woody Wood Pecker

With Puss in Boots. Where's Donkey?

Spotted Frankenstein. Selling something?! (._.)

Frankenstein's pose (^-^)

With the super flawless, Marilyn Monroe!

With Shrek and Princess Fiona.
If your little daughter loves to get glamorous, then she will surely adore Princess Fiona. She's really beautiful in person (not the real Fiona of course)! How come Princess Fiona fell in love with Shrek (just kidding)?! (^_^ )

The Prince transformed into a frog. Where's the Princess by the way?

Heading ready for the next attraction while hunting for Betty Boop (@_@)
We didn't notice that we queued up for almost 30min, patiently waiting just to have photos with these mascots and characters. It was worth the wait though (^0^)

Joining with Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria,
the four heroes from DreamWorks Animation's blockbuster movie
Madagascar.

We were actually planning to ride here but the queue was 30min long. Anyway, Madagascar is just a crate adventure that leads the guests to a river boat ride. Think, we already experienced a ride like this before (*_*)

Carousel ride with Alex the Lion,
Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and
Melman the Giraffe.
so we skipped from one adventure and went straight to the carousel ride. Service here was smooth and efficient, no long queues waiting. It's great to feel like a kid again! (@_@)

Shrek's hideout

The Far Far Away Castle
The fairy tale continues! Join Shrek, Princess Fiona and Puss In Boots in Far Far Away as they greet you in royal ogre-style.

Shrek 4-D film Adventure
See, hear, feel and smell the action as moving seats, water, wind, mist and other special effects put you right in the middle of this fairytale adventure. Shrek 4D vision made it more realistic, a great example of Universal Studios at it's very best! The Fairy Tale struggles to live happily ever after(again)! (0_0)

Where to go next?

Waterworld show is a classic tale of good and evil.

Jet Skiers crisscross on a turquoise lagoon.

This is not just a stunt show but a jaw-dropping stunts.

A smoking airplane crashes into the water.

Good guy always triumph over the bad guy in the end. (^+^) wink!

Definitely, a show you won't want to miss.
Tip: if you don't want to get wet, be sure not to occupy the front seattings of the arena as the ‘WaterWorld’ performers will splash you with water and shoot you with waterguns (^_^ )

Every shot counts (^o^)

Ready to lost at the Lost World.

Our rubber raft slowly leaves the station

heading towards the 85ft (if not mistaken) splash down drop.

There you goooo!
Before the huge drop, we go up a lift to encounter the T-Rex in a cage .
The drop was really awesome and apparently lots of screaming.
The best drop we ever experienced..
whahhh!!

We survived the Jurassic Park ride, yeahhh!!!

Make sure to bring your poncho or purchase a disposable raincoat at the entrance
before getting in the Jurassic Rapids.
My youngest was seriously soo nervous during the ride while my eldest was so relaxed, expecting that there should be more effects and thrill going on in the first part of the ride and more splash after the drop. What a great review! But over all, the ride was cool!

Discovery Food Court @ "The Lost World"
Then we ended up to the biggest dining place in the park, the Discovery food court. The food court itself was nice but queuing was highlighted by some diners as major problem here, so avoid lunch between 12-1pm. Haizsstt..couldn't wait standing (@^@)

My kids, reviewing the map while patiently waiting for their lunch.
Good thing there's more outdoor seating near the entrance.

At last, lunch ready!
Food was quite expensive but the selection was good and yummy. Even though it's hot outside, we managed to finish our lunch. Energized enough to continue the fun.

Woody Wood Pecker joining us once again : )
After lunch, we headed straight to the souvenir shop to buy some USS hats and shirts. Definitely, prices are high but this is a once-in-a-lifetime shopping opportunity that i shouldn't be missed, so, go, go, go! {^_^}

Wearing now our new USS hats and shirts : )

We headed down to Wharf Arcade and strolled along the shops for photo ops.
Seen at the back of Anubis Statues is the
Battlestar Galactica Dueling coaster.
I will not risk myself to ride again on the coaster (my first ride in HK Ocean Adventure made me so scared not to dare again) so we skipped the thrill and walked over the Egyptian area instead {@_@}
Photo op with the Pharaoh.

Another shot while heading towards the entrance of Revenge of the Mummy thrill ride.

Here, the Revenge of the Mummy Museum.
I was already scared of the huge drop so i decided not to get on the Mummy ride, but my eldest son and hubby together with my brother-in-law rode in. When they went out they're almost breathless, saying that the ride made their hearts race, it's really super fast, very dark and ultimately scary, not meant for people with heart problem! I can't stop laughing (^o^)

We couldn't wait to see the future (^_^)

Photo tour within the Palace.

 New York!

Lights, Camera, Action queues

We couldn't just pass-by this Hollywood car without taking pictures (@_@)

Ready to Rock @ The Monster Rock Show!

We've been to Hollywood!
