Sentosa Island and Songs of the Sea Singapore

After Universal Studios, next place we explored was Sentosa Island.

After buying our tickets for the "songs of the sea",  we walked up and hopped on
the escalator to the 3rd level of Vivo City, where the Monorail platform is located. Then we headed straight to the beach station. We arrived 3 hours early for the night show so we gave ourselves a chance to walk around and see a bit more of the island before queuing in.

There are many beautiful places that you will love to visit here in Sentosa island but keep in mind that each attraction has it's own price (cheap for one but for a family of four, think twice). They charges an admission fee per person, no discount for kids. Anyway, it's all worth paying the entrance fees so, nothing to worry about.

Tips:

1. Get to know the entrance fees ahead so you can plan your budget before getting in.

2. Food inside the island is also expensive, you can't bring picnic lunches inside but you can

    bring snacks and bottled water.

3. You can save quite a bit of money by eating before entering the island.

enjoying the view of Sentosa from the bus window
Resorts World Sentosa is just 10 minutes away by bus from the Central Business Districts of Singapore. It's been over 6 years now since my husband last visited Sentosa. He said, "Singapore is constantly changing!"

Resorts World Sentosa can be reached via the Waterfront station of the monorail or via the dedicated "RWS" buses from Harbourfront and other points in Singapore.

Inside the monorail, heading over to Sentosa island

Sentosa Monorail is one of the best transportation mode to get into and around the island. Take the North-East Line of the MRT to HarbourFront and go up to Level 3 of Vivocity, where you'll find the Sentosa Express monorail. The train operates every 5-8 minutes from 7AM to 11:45PM daily. Round-trip ticket costs S$3. EZ-Link card is also accepted.

Not that excited, but super excited lol!

Be sure to wear good and comfy shoes. It's soo tiring walking around the island.

resting on the 120-metre-long Gaudi-inspired mosaic walkway. Some say, "the longest snake".

getting nearer..haizzssttt..really tired!

The artificial waterfall at the back of Merlion statue.

No visit to Sentosa is complete without meeting its most famous, 37-metre icon tower, The Merlion.

You can step inside the Merlion's body where you can meet the legendary sea dragons and mythical mermaids. Climb up to the peak and you can see the spectacular 360 degrees view of Sentosa island.

The ticket costs S$10 if you go inside the merlion’s bodyWe preferred to have pictures outside.

it's our turn, guys!

There are lots of stuffs that you can buy from the souvenir shops located around the park. You can choose from shirts, toys, keychains, stuff toys etc. I don't like to spend much for the souvenir items, so we leave the park empty-handed (^0^)

rushing to catch a bus going to Palawan beach
Going to Sentosa beaches is all part of the fun. There are free shuttle buses which go in all directions to Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong. Feel free to ride

Heading to the tram station
Palawan Beach is the most ideal for children and families, as it provides more amenities and attractions for the kids.
Tram is about to leave
Join the blue line queue if you're heading to Palawan or Tanjong Beach. The green line is going to Siloso Beach. Just watch for the destination signs, so you will not get lost.

A quick snapshot of the suspension bridge while crossing over.
There is a suspension bridge that links the beach-goers to a small islet off the coast which is said to be the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, or Asia's closest point to the Equator.

mesmerizing sunset

I'm a little coconut, lying on a coco-beach. This coconut tree reminds me of the song, "I'm a little coconut" (^_^)

The lookout viewing tower offers the best view of the Palawan beach. Don't have enough energy to climb up (*o*)

I love this place! The suspension bridge is definitely a highlight. It reminded me of those 3 fellows who evil- eyed at me because they can't stop me from stomping on the bridge. They were screaming every time the bridge swayed  hahaha.. Bad mom!

Great family moment!

All the beaches inside the Sentosa island are said to be artificial, reclaimed using sand bought from Indonesia and Malaysia. I didn't notice. Who cares, anyway?

@ Koufu restaurant
While having fun, do remember to eat and dine. Be aware of the restaurants lined up along the beach. For good food options, grab a bite at Koufu restaurant. Savour Singapore "must-try" local delights like Black Pepper Crabs, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa, Satay and many others.

Tired and hungry

Tired, sweaty and always hungry. Peace, Kuya (^0^)

Our yummy dinner that completes our night. (^O^)
Koufu Palawan Beach opens from 9AM-9PM. The only foodcourt in Sentosa with the local food. Food all right, but there are tastier options around S$4-S$6. After dinner we began waiting for the tram back to the bus station where "Songs of the Sea" is nearly located.

while waiting for the queue to start

We still have 15 min before we have to queue for the show so we strolled back and forth, checking for some things that are essential to remember before leaving home. I was about to buy one stuff toy for my son when the crew started to shout, "songs of the sea, songs of the sea!" Sorry my little son, we have to buy it next time (again).

That's the VIP (premium) seats?
We bought the premium seat tickets (no choice, we failed to buy the standard pass). The premium ticket allows us to avoid the long queue and entered the arena about 15 minutes before the show started. There was a very long queue in the standard tickets.

Songs of the Sea show is an open-air viewing gallery which can comfortably accommodate 2,500 visitors, so, expect a huge crowd.

Ticket price per person for Premium Seats is S$15 and for Standard seats S$10.
Tip: Book your Premium Seats to enjoy the best view and priority entry. Book your tickets online at tickets.sentosa.com.sg up to 14 days in advance. Otherwise if you want to get the standard seats, buy it ahead. Standard tickets could be sold out weeks in advance.

Some say, It was more fun being in the front rows on the benches than sit at the premium seats. Up to you to choose (0_0)

What you can see is a Kelong (stilts) a Malay word to describe a form of offshore platform built by fishermen primarily for fishing purposes.

After a while, sprays of lights comes out of the sea. The show is about to begin. Everyone set their cameras and video recorder.

The show features pyrotechnics displays, water jets, laser show and flame bursts with captivating music and dramatic visual effects, presented by live performing cast.

The show starts of with Li and his friends appearing from a shrub waving at the audience.
Wikipedia describes Li as the main protagonist of the show, he is dressed in a white shirt and brown shorts. As he was singing along the beach he was the first few to see the vision of sleeping Princess Ami. Together with Oscar the Tiger Fish and his friends, he goes on a mission to awake her.

Oscar, the tiger fish
Oscar is the main deuteragonist of the show. He is a colourful Pterois miles(despite recognized as a Tiger Fish, it is actually not his species) who lives in a sleeping kingdom ruled by Princess Ami under the sea. He was inspired to be created by a first series set of 50 cent coins found in Singapore. He is self proclaimed to be the creature "who knows many things".

Also known as the Mischievous Fishes, they are the tritagonist of the show. They are the unnamed friends of Oscar. One of them is a jellyfish another a seahorse while the final one is a puffer fish.

The Villain or the Element

The beautiful, Princess Ami
Li learns that Princess Ami is under the spell of an enchanted village. Li believes he should give up after many attempts of trying to awake her, but Oscar's friends encouraged Li with the song, You`re Not in This on Your Own.

End
After awakening Princess Ami with Li's singing powers, Oscar congratulates Li for his deed and waves the audience and Li goodbye.

The adventure continues. Until then.
